One of Australia's top corporate comedy acts hits 1000 corporate shows
In February this year Elliot Goblet appeared at his 1000th corporate event and in the company of people (such as ICMI staff) who have supported him over the years Elliot's alter ego Jack Levi celebrated this milestone at a fine Melbourne venue on March 15. Over the last 20 years Goblet has worked for most of the top 200 companies...and for a fair few of the bottom 200 as well.
Whether doing a spot or acting as an MC most of this comedian's work has been at conferences, product launches dinners and parties. He loves his work and is looking forward to doing his next 1000 corporate appearances.

Congratulations to Tim Ellis, Sue-Ann and their team from ICMI!
ABC's Race Around the World winner, Tony Wilson, launches his first novel
In April, Tony Wilson launched his first novel Players, which is a very entertaining and sometimes disturbing look behind the scenes of Australian Rules football and the media. Set in the world of television, Players tells the story of the fierce rivalry between channels 5 and 3 as played out between their respective footy shows.
"Tony Wilson's cracker of a novel is without doubt the most accurate study of the sports ego ever embarked upon. The result is a frightening collision of stupidity and success. I couldn't put it down."
Rampaging Roy Slaven (Roy & HG)
Inspirational speaker, Catherine DeVrye launches autobiography
Inspirational speaker, Catherine DeVrye, has after 17 years finished her autobiography, titled Who Says I Can't?
About Who Says I Can't: Abandoned as a baby in Canada, Catherine DeVrye was adopted by loving parents. When she was twenty-one, they died of cancer, within a year of each other. An only child, Catherine packed her bags for a 3-month working holiday in Australia, arriving jobless and near penniless. Named Australian Executive Woman of the Year, dined with princes, prime ministers and Olympic athletes. She'd cycled over the Andes, dived with sharks and climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro... and finally, decided to search for her biological parents. And that's when her adventures really began... If you've ever felt alone and hopeless, laugh and cry through Catherine's story and become more empowered to turn your own stumbling blocks into stepping-stones.

Tips for Women in Business
Former CEO of Polar Cosmetics and Victorian Telstra Business Women of the Year, Marcia Griffin shares her business success secrets for women:
In my book High Heeled Success I detail the key attributes for building a successful business. I discovered that these were not the things I had been taught in my 12 years at University!!!
My top 6 attributes:
- Attitude - Having a positive attitude about business and life is essential to success
- Self belief - If you think you can -in 99 out of 100 challenges--you can do it--and just let that last one go!
- Focus - Keep your eye on the ball-it works at golf as well!
- Commitment - Let nothing come between you and success-and it wont!
- Hard/smart work - Hard work per se will not bring you success-but combine that with being smart and you are well on your way
- Set your goals high -and keep on revising them up as you achieve.
I am excited about working with ICMI as it represents a great opportunity for me to share with other women the keys to success.

| SPEAKER'S CORNER |
Former Olympic long distance swimming coach Bill Nelson talks on leadership
Every organisation has a strategic, systematic and humanistic potential that is attempting to exceed that of the opposition. Having these elements of potential and developing them are part of the ongoing challenges for every business organisation. The qualities required are many and varied as are the challenges and obstacles associated with them.
The ultimate success of any business or organisation is directly proportional to the ongoing improvement of its leader, the team, and their ability to come together and embrace a culture that underpins it standards and values towards its desired results.
To inspire people to increased levels of performance, synergy and efficiency the leader must consistently represent a set of qualities, values and skills. Although the need for job knowledge and management know how are important, it is the leaders individual attributes combined with the strategies, direction, culture, support and ongoing success of the organisation, that will allow the leader to effectively engage the support and commitment of the people they lead.
The path before any leader is always one that contains the possibility for stagnation and difficulty. Where as on the other hand there lies the opportunity for commitment, achievement, enjoyment and eventually, success. However the reality is there are never any guarantees.
Leadership, teamwork and culture are three areas that are constantly spoken about in terms of increasing both individual and team performance. They are subjects that many times are taken to levels of discussion and thinking that are way above and beyond where they are required to be.
Einstein once said: That a problem will not be solved thinking at the same level at which it was created.
For many this statement outlines the need to think and focus at a level above where the problem was created. When in reality this is not always the case. Many times the answer to the problems that a leader encounters lies in their ability to return to basics. To have that ability and intuition to understand the complexity of the situation but to have the skill and the presence to understand that the solution lies in a common sense answer.
Just because it is common sense however does not mean it is always common place and just because the thinking is at the basic level does not mean it is not capable of returning outstanding results.
Leadership, teamwork and culture all have a role to play in the ongoing success of any organisation. The strategies, understanding and level of thinking required to fully develop these three areas will come from a variety of sources and opportunities.
The Journey Continues!
