With the Paris Olympics 2024 fast approaching, it’s a great time to take a look at some of the shining Australian Olympians we’re lucky to have on our roster here at ICMI. From Summer Olympians to Winter Olympians and soon-to-be stars of the Paralympics 2024, our speakers represent the entirety of the Olympic landscape. 

Whether you’re a die-hard sports fan or just eager to hear captivating stories on resilience, perseverance, teamwork and leadership, our famous Australian Olympian speakers take you through the peaks and valleys of top-tier athleticism with engaging, personal stories every audience can soak up a lesson from.

 

Anna Meares Olympic speaker

Anna Meares OAM

Cycling to victory at multiple games, Anna Meares OAM is a true Olympic legend. Career highlights include making history in Rio 2016 as the first Aussie athlete to win individual medals at 4 consecutive Olympic games along with an impressive collection of 18 gold medals, 16 silver medals and 10 bronze medals. Plus, she was also Australia’s flag bearer and team captain at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Anna broke her neck in 2008, overcoming major life-threatening trauma to win a silver medal just 8 months later at the Beijing Olympic Games. 

Since retiring, she has been popular on the speaking circuit with a reputation as one of Australia’s greatest cyclists, sharing her fascinating and inspirational stories with keynotes that touch on resilience, leadership and performance under pressure. More recently, she was appointed Australia’s 2024 Chef de Mission, ensuring our Aussie coaches, managers, and athletes have success navigating this year’s games.

One of Australia’s greatest backstrokers, Nicole Livingstone OAM OLY achieved her childhood dream of becoming an Olympic swimmer, showing up for Australia at three Olympics and earning a silver medal and two bronze medals in the process. She was also a member of the Australian swimming team for twelve consecutive years from 1985 to 1996. 

Life after being a top Olympian has involved a stellar career as a sports commentator and business leader, including being the general manager of the AFLW. On the speaking circuit, she’s an endless resource of inspiration and motivation with talks ranging from women in sport to business transformation.

Jana Pittman Olympic speakerJana Pittman

From the rubber to the ice, world athletic champion Jana Pittman is the only Australian woman to have competed at both the summer and winter Olympics. After appearances at the 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympic Games, an injury hampered her athletic career. 

Instead of just hanging up the runners and kicking back for good, she swapped the rubber track for an iced one, going on to represent Australia in the Women’s bobsleigh team in the 2014 Winter Olympic Games. As a speaker, she inspires and entertains with first-hand tales  about the ups and downs of her unique career and the lessons of resilience she learned along the way.

Captivating hearts and breaking records is a speciality for Sudanese born and proud Australian Olympian Peter Bol OLY. His journey from a refugee to Australia’s first 800m Olympic finalist in over half a century is nothing short of inspiring. Steven Bradbury

Steven Bradbury OAM

There’s a great reason why ‘Doing a Bradbury’ is officially in the Macquarie Dictionary. Steven Bradbury’s incredible victory was a viral sensation that launched him to notoriety as Australia’s first ever winter Olympic Gold medallist. In a story you’re probably familiar with, he achieved his win when all his speed skating competitors in front fell over, allowing him to cruise to the finish line in first place.

These days he’s a champion speaker who genuinely entertains as well as inspires with lessons on passion, persistence and a positive mindset.

Dean Boxall

Dean Boxall

Notorious for his flamboyant, poolside theatrics, Dean Boxall is nothing short of an elite coach. He’s responsible for championing some of Australia’s top talent in the water, including the showstopping performance by Ariarne Titmus at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. World record holders, Olympic and Commonwealth Games medalists, world champions and multiple national team members all speak glowingly of Dean’s genius and energy.

Ariarne Titmus OAM

Queen of the pool at Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Ariarne Titmus OAM emerged as one of the best female middle-distance swimmers in the world. Her stunning debut in Tokyo made waves in the Olympic world, earning herself two golds, a silver and a bronze by the end of it all.

Outside the pool, Ariarne showcases all the qualities we dream of in a champion – ambition and passion balanced by humility and maturity. This makes her a great speaker, full of articulate insights with talks that are equal parts fascinating and entertaining.

Ben Popham OAM

21 year old Paralympic swimmer Ben Popham OAM is nothing short of an inspiration. He won 2 golds and 1 silver medal at the recent Paralympic Games in Tokyo. He made his Australian debut in 2018, picking up 2 gold medals at the Para Pan Pacific Games and then Swimming Australia’s AIS Discovery of the Year award. In 2019, Ben collected a silver medal and 2 bronze at the Para World Swimming Championships in London.

In 2022, Ben Popham was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia OAM for service to sport as a Gold medallist at the Tokyo Paralympic Games 2020.
