Samuel Shem

Novelist, playwright, essayist and activist

Samuel Shem is a graduate of Harvard College and a Rhodes scholar at Balliol College Oxford, he was also on the faculty of Harvard Medical School for three decades. He is currently a professor of medicine in medical humanities, literature, ethics and psychiatry at New York University Medical School.

His writing skills on the practice of medicine have led him to sell over three million copies of his novels.
